Pratap is our new full-time passionate optometrist who joined us in Casino in August 2019. He undertook his Bachelors in Vision Science and Master in Optometry at Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria. He is originally a resident of Brisbane where he completed his schooling. He completed his optometry degree with therapeutic qualifications which allows him to prescribe ocular medications.

Pratap provides optometric care in all aspects of optometry including:

He has a special interest in diagnosing and managing ocular pathology including:

During his optometric studies, Pratap received the national prestigious scholarship by The Fred Hollows Foundation and work placement with the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health in Brisbane. This allowed him to attend several conferences related to optometry and Indigenous eye health. He aims to provide equitable eye care services and is passionate in working towards closing the gap in vision for the Indigenous Australians.

Outside of optometry, Pratap is an ongoing volunteer at the Sikh Temple in Brisbane and has volunteered with organisations including, Glaucoma Australia, Vision Australia, Special Olympics and Australian Red Cross. He has also volunteered with charity organisations to provide upskilling training for optometrists in India.

Macular Degeneration is a disease associated with aging that gradually destroys central vision. Using the latest technology including retinal scanning and OCT, we are able to take an in depth look into your eyes and assess your eye health.

Glaucoma Exam

Glaucoma is a disease where the pressure within the eye is typically increased (although not always). This can damage parts of the eye, and if left untreated may result in blindness. Diagnosis consists of having regular eye tests, which includes a pressure measurement and visual field testing to enable early detection of possible problems.

Diabetic Exam

Corneal topography is a non invasive test that allows us to identify and monitor any changes to the cornea of your eye. It can help us identify problems with the eye’s surface, or eye conditions like astigmatism.

Digital Retinal Imaging

Digital Retinal Imaging (DRI) is a scan that provides an image of the internal and anterior eye. DRI can assist the optometrist in managing and detecting changes in the eye associated with macular degeneration, glaucoma, hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes and cancers of the eye.

Spectacles and contact lenses are provided at no cost for patients covered by Veterans Affairs. Our staff will be pleased to advise you on your entitlement.

Spectacles for the Disadvantaged

Often there are people with a need for spectacles but who are not able to afford the cost, or part of it. Some state governments provide limited assistance for people in need. Please talk to our staff and they will be pleased to explain the eligibility requirements and how to make an application.
